Why I hate the ketogenic diet

Now, let’s be clear on something…

There’s nothing wrong with it (at all).

In fact, the first time I got the leanest (down to 10% body fat) was with a ketogenic diet in 2015.

So you might be wondering why the heck I hate it.

Simple.

It’s not sustainable for many people.

And for that, no matter how great a diet can be (or someone thinks it is) if you can’t sustain it for the long run you’re setting yourself up for failure.

That’s the recipe for going diet after diet without keeping the results.

Plus, science is clear that it’s not superior in terms of fat loss or other biomarkers when compared to other diets.

This is what happened to me.

While I got the leanest with this diet, I didn’t know what I was doing and what I was getting into.

So when I “went out” of the diet (again, this was way back 7 years ago), I regained all the weight back.

That 10% body fat didn’t last me more than a week.

And that’s the problem with keto (and with any specific diet or approach).

Nothing will matter when we do it because we think it’s “the best” way and not because we know it’s something we’re able and willing to do in the long term.

As I say, what’s the point of something like a miracle diet that lets you lose 1 pound of pure fat per day and even gain 1 pound of muscle if you can’t sustain it?…

Well, no matter how much of such a miracle diet would exist IF it’s not sustainable for you.

That’s the key.

You need to find an approach that lets you stick with it, that you enjoy, and that helps you lose fat.

The way I see it, you should find a diet that doesn’t make you even feel like dieting at all.

It’s possible, and there’s nothing magical about that.

All it takes is getting to know yourself, and the options available, and then going with a diet that fits your lifestyle and current situation.

Sure, you need a diet with the building block of all diets in place regardless of your chosen approach (otherwise, you’ll be wasting your time).

But by picking the right diet for YOU, you’re way more likely to not only lose fat…

but actually keep it off.

Whether you’re currently on a diet (like I am… going down from 153 I was to 145 — just 2 pounds left to go) or you’re planning to start one soon… keep this in mind.

This is more than important in these upcoming holidays.

So keep working towards your goals.
