when doing it, our body wants to preserve as much energy as possible.

There’s a component that tells how much energy your body burns without you even realizing it with nonconscious movements, called NEAT.

NEAT stands for Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis.

So fidgeting, making movements with your hands when talking, or walking fit into this category.

when we’re in a deficit, the body reduces the amount of these activities…

without you realizing it, of course.

This is why a great component (and has a bigger impact than exercise) is to try to keep your NEAT as high as possible.

And as you might have guessed, this is why tracking and keeping the same number of steps you take in a day when you are not losing fat is important for you to continue losing more fat.

Let’s say you’re walking the 10,000 steps that are recommended.

Maybe when dieting, you found yourself you’re walking half of it (again, you won’t notice it unless you track it).
