Low-carb or low-fat diets? Here’s how to know which one you should do

If there’s one thing I can’t stand in the entire fitness industry… is how some people claim and think that doing X over Y is better.

And there’s no difference between low-carb and low-fat diets.

Sure, there are places and situations where certain people will need to do one over another, yet…

that doesn’t mean people who push a specific diet are always right (but of course, it’s natural for them to think they are right… that’s why they are promoting such claims to begin with).

My point is…

Studies are clear on one thing:

for most people, it’s totally irrelevant whether you choose a diet low in carbs or fats if your goal is to lose fat.

When food intake and protein are equated, the results in fat loss (as well as insulin, LBM retention, and other biomarkers) are pretty much the same.

There’s been zero evidence that one is superior or better than the other.

But will this stop someone from defending their position on a specific approach?

I would be amazed if that happens.

What I do know is this…

the fitness industry needs to accept that there’s no one size fits all approach to fat loss when it comes to the mechanism.

Some might work slightly better for some than others (based on their specific situation), but trying to sound an expert by using complex terms to show their expertise just shows their lack thereof.

That’s my opinion, of course.

This is why I explain everything related to fat loss in plain and simple language.

Not only because that’s how we humans communicate (I mean…), but because I don’t need to show off the little or much knowledge I have about nutritional science and fat loss.

And this is also why I never tell clients or people in general that they should do a specific diet…

not if it’s not for them, at least.

There are simple ways to know whether you’re gonna succeed in a diet or not, being the main one if you see yourself being able to keep such a change from now on.

Because that’s how you sustain the weight you lose.

But at the same time, it doesn’t mean you have to give up your favorite food or feel like starving throughout the day…

or even feeling like dieting at all.

I know these topics aren’t sexy in the fitness industry.

But if you’re the one or two who read and use this, you will be far ahead in your fat loss journey and stop worrying about what to do next when dieting — and never gain your weight back.

That’s enough of me sharing my thoughts on the industry.

Hopefully this gives some thoughts about doing specific diets and what approach you should do (and not do).
