Counting calories = useless for fat loss?
How many times have you heard the advice “you should count calories to lose fat”?
It’s common to hear it as the answer for fat loss, but…
this type of advice is quite dangerous (and not for the reasons you might be thinking).
Let me explain.
Counting calories is in and of itself completely useless.
Why?
Because you need to know not only what you’re tracking, but what’s the goal for each of the things you’re tracking.
If you’re looking to lose fat, then you know that you should be eating less to lose fat.
The thing is that counting calories won’t help you in any way (or give you any benefit) if you don’t pay attention to other components like your macronutrients or your exercise activity.
Fat loss doesn’t happen in isolation.
And by that, I mean that what you eat impacts your energy expenditure and the other way around. They don’t happen in isolation as so many people think it is (especially those who claim that calories in general are useless).
So while counting calories is helpful in the right situation, know that it’s a tool — not the solution.
Plus, whenever someone starts using this tool, many fall into either one (or more) of these scenarios:
- They overestimate how much they eat
- They underestimate how much they eat (especially when eating out and with fast food in general)
- They overestimate how much they exercise
This doesn’t mean that counting calories will eventually be something not worth even trying.
As I said, it’s a tool — it can be helpful for you or not, that’s something you have to figure out.
But counting calories won’t be what actually makes you lose fat…
only having the building block of all diets in place will.
This is why I recommend you follow a system that suits you and your situation, so no matter what… you know what to do when yet still know you will see consistent results.
If you want to know about the system that lets you predictably lose all the weight you want (on demand) by using science and not fad diets, then you’re gonna want to get my new ebook “Fat Loss On Demand”.

Don’t think this is a miracle diet or solution.
It requires you to be open-minded and know that you’ll be “safe” as long as you follow the system.
And in it, I share “the lazy method” to counting calories, so you don’t fall into any of the scenarios where people make the most common mistakes when trying it out.
